For those of you that want to start the "Masa" Bag:- Make a rectangle of approximately 20 x 53 cm. The length:width ratio must be approximately 1:3. Use any stitch or combination of stitches in the yarns of your choice. You can even use squares or a combination of squares and straight rows!! Anything goes .... be creative!! We will finish this in one of the September classes. Happy Homework!!!

Crochet in Art

Jessica Bosworth Smith, a honours degree art student at Rhodes University, has made a HUGE (1.5 x 1.5 x 1.5m) sculpture that she wants to cover in crochet work. I have been commissioned to do the crochet work for her. I'm busy on the last couple of pieces and look forward to seeing the finished project that will go on exhibition in October.
We have used Ell Family Knit Double Knit in Cherry red, Black and White.
It is heartwarming to see "the younger generation" using crochet in all kinds of projects. Go Girl!!!

Irish Crochet

I have just dicovered the webpage of Olga Krivenko. She does Irish Crochet work like you've never seen before!!! Although it's a Russian page, you can use the Google or Bing Translator - the translations are not 100% correct, but you'll get  the gist and a good giggle (lol). Just for fun try translating it into Afrikaans) Be sure to check out this amazing site. You will find the link on my blog list under Olgemini. Groetnis

Crochet Class Diary

How nice!!! I have my first "follower"!!! Welcome Moz, I look forward to do classes with you and your card-makers. Also excited about the Breast Cancer awareness workshop you are planning.

I have also finally managed to sort out how to do the diary for crochet classes. Check it out on maribcrochet.yolasite.com.

I'm making progress - even if it's slow - in setting up a website for on-line wool and yarn ordering. Waiting for all the bits of info. I will keep you posted on how things are progressing.
